Hurricane Group Press Release

The flagship event of the FISE World Series welcomed over 610,000 spectators onsite and 15 million fans enjoyed the experience online.

The event sits at the heart of the action sports community, especially as focus turns towards the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. We welcomed over 2,000 international athletes – both professional and amateur – across a multitude of action sports disciplines. These included BMX Freestyle Park and Skateboard Street, both set to make their debut at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Parkour, Breaking, Scooter Freestyle, Roller Freestyle, BMX Flatland and Wakeboard.

The UCI BMX Freestyle Park World Cup competition gives athletes an opportunity to win points towards qualifying their country for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

‘I won FISE Montpellier! I’ve been watching this competition for a very long time and to win it is a dream come true,’ says current UCI World Champion Justin Dowell, who represents USA Cycling.

‘Thank you to everyone who supports me – in this and all future chapters leading up to Tokyo 2020.’

As the spotlight shines with increasing brightness on action sports, Hurricane continues to grow with them – in tandem.

‘Our story would never have been told without the incredible engagement from everyone involved,’ says Hervé André-Benoit Hurricane Group CEO.

‘The FISE family will grow for many years as we follow our shared dream of developing the world of action sports.’
